At MJB Wood Group, we are dedicated stewards of the environment, prioritizing responsibly sourced wood products to support sustainable forestry and the preservation of our planet's natural resources. Wood’s remarkable properties extend beyond its strength and versatility—it plays a critical role in carbon sequestration, making it an ideal material for environmentally conscious construction.
As trees grow, they absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, storing the carbon within their structure and releasing oxygen (O2) back into the air. This captured carbon remains locked in the wood even after it becomes part of the built environment, contributing to a reduction in atmospheric CO2. By harnessing this natural sustainability, MJB delivers high-performance products that help reduce carbon emissions across their lifecycle, from production and transportation to installation.
In 2022 alone, the wood products sold by MJB sequestered approximately 531,000 tons of CO2, significantly surpassing our company’s emissions of roughly 285,000 tons during the same period. Our composite wood panels, crafted from responsibly sourced materials, are a shining example of products that store more carbon than they release throughout their entire lifecycle.
Compared to alternative materials like steel, cement, plastic, and glass, wood excels in nearly every category of environmental impact, as demonstrated by the Composite Panels Association’s Environmental Impact Comparison. At MJB, we take pride in using this inherently sustainable material, while continuously refining our sourcing and manufacturing practices to further minimize environmental impact.
